About MABA

Why a MABA Buyer Agent?

The burden is unfairly placed on the home buyer in MA to understand the nuances of many home-buying terms the industry and courts now use. This makes the process of hiring a real estate professional confusing and risky.

We don't expect a home buyer in MA to have the time or energy to sort through the terminology. As a nonprofit member organization, we are dedicated to being advocates for home buyers in MA. We are here to help you.

Here are the 3 steps to selecting a real estate professional in MA:

  1. Determine what services you want from an agent. Seller agent or buyer agent?
  2. Interview real estate professionals. Understand their expertise, experience and qualifications. Leverage these questions to help you evaluate each real estate agent.
  3. Select an agent who will protect your interests as a home buyer. At MABA, we believe your interests in buying a home in MA are best served by us.

Benefits of a MABA Buyer Agent

Why Maba 2MABA buyer agents are licensed real estate professionals with deep market knowledge and expertise in their respective markets. Only a fraction (~1%) of buyer agents in Massachusetts real estate meet the strict requirements to become a member of MABA. We have high standards. You deserve high standards and we deliver.

MABA buyer agents save our clients - first time home buyers to clients buying their eighth home - time by our quality over quantity approach. Simply, as professionals we listen to your needs and show you the best homes for your needs to save you time. MABA buyer agents save you money by negotiating on your behalf, investigating past property history and advising you on which homes best serve your needs and maximize the value to you. MABA agents are advocates for you at each stage of the process as you buy your first home, condo or retirement townhome.

Additional benefits of selecting a MABA buyer agent include:

Peace of mind
With a MABA agent, you can be assured there is no conflict of interest. You have an experienced professional who is committed to representing you and your needs.

A MABA buyer agent’s job is not to “sell” any particular property. Our job is to help you buy the best property for your needs. MABA buyer agents represent only the best interests of their buyer-clients throughout the entire buying process.

MABA buyer agents can help you avoid big mistakes such as buying in a declining neighborhood or overpaying for a property.

Access to more inventory
A MABA buyer’s agent has an obligation to show the entire range of properties available on the market, including properties that a seller’s agent may not show you. Specifically, this presents opportunities for you as a buyer to view more homes, including FSBOs (for sale by owner properties), bank-owned properties, properties offered at auction and new construction.

Due diligence and intensive research
This is the essence of our core values and the oath we take as MABA buyer’s agents. MABA buyer agents are dedicated to your needs and your needs only, in the transaction of purchasing a home. In that role, the MABA agent will help you get the answers you need to make an informed decision.

Introductions to select expertise and professionals
MABA buyer’s agents know how time-consuming and stressful finding and buying the right home can be. A MABA agent will save you time and help you avoid hassle and frustration. We will introduce you to a wide variety of professionals to assist with various aspects of the transaction including attorneys, mortgage professionals, appraisers, engineers, architects, contractors and home inspectors. A MABA agent offers extensive resources to deliver a successful home buying experience for you. This can be particularly beneficial when moving into a new community or relocating into the state of MA.

“With the current trend of plunging inventory and rising prices, the odds were strong that sales increases of the winter market would be unsustainable through the spring,” said 2017 MAR President Paul Yorkis, president of Patriot Real Estate in Medway. “The demand is there; we just need more homes on the market to satisfy that demand.”
