Pledge of loyalty by members of the Massachusetts Association of Buyer Agents

Home Buyer Advocates Since 1991

Founded in 1991, the Massachusetts Association of Buyer Agents (MABA) is recognized nationwide for its efforts to educate licensees and consumers about agency issues. MABA, a nonprofit education organization, is a proponent of client-level (representation) services for both buyers and sellers. Our mission is to promote buyer agency to consumers and real estate agents, to assist with the education process regarding agency issues, and to act as a referral and consulting network.

Who Are Our Members?
MABA members are licensed real estate professionals who NEVER practice "Designated Agency." We practice single agency or buyer agency; we always act as fiduciary agents (agents who are responsible for giving sound professional advice in the interests of our clients.) The MABA membership is comprised of 98% REALTORS. Any real estate licensee can attend MABA educational programs. Please click here if you are a licensee who wishes to make a referral to a MABA member.

Get a List of Association Members for Your Area
The MABA maintains a database of members and profiles on each office. The staff at MABA headquarters provide home buyer counseling and profiles on association members for you area. They can be reached at 1-800-935-6222, or you may fill out our online request form.

Industry Communications
MABA members actively participate in trade association committees and have been instrumental in creating forums for discussion of agency issues.

MABA Publications and Media Relations
Newsletters and articles are provided to help agents educate both consumers and the industry. MABA is constantly in touch with the media and uses it to help educate consumers and the industry about agency issues.

Protecting the Fiduciary Standard
The MABA continues to oppose those who want to exempt real estate agents from the fiduciary standard of common law. Professionals are accountable as fiduciaries, which is the reason why their services have value. All other professions use this standard because it is in the public's best interest. The MABA believes that if we lower our standards, we have lowered the value of our services and eliminated a layer of protection now available to consumers.
